Our latest Newsletter is now online. For those who also get the printed version, the online version has my column included, which didn't make it in time for the print version! The Newsletter is in PDF format, which, by now, everyone should be able to access. Be patient, as it may take ten seconds or so for it to open, depending on the speed of your system and your internet download speed.

Here is an anecdote from Mark Robbins, Nat Robbins son:
Now a funny story you might want to put on the Blog. During a rehearsal with Shari Lewis and her hand puppet "Lambchop" the boom microphone operator kept moving the microphone back and forth between Shari and Lambchop as each one would talk. Finally the director yelled over the public address system "THEY'RE BOTH HER!!". She must have been a great ventriloquist.

Our mini-luncheon went well, although we were hoping for a bigger turnout. Our attendees were Irwin Solow and his companion, Joan, Tony and Flo Casola, David & Holly Minott and a surprise visit from Milt Jackson, whom we hope will become a regular. Unfortunately, Teddy & Pat Perzeszty were not able to make it due to some serious health issues in their family. Aside from the good food and the funny jokes, we enjoyed reminiscing about "the good old days".
We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the Swan Club!
P.S. We were so busy enjoying each other's company that no one thought of taking any pictures!
Here is a YouTube video of Irwin Solow's grandson, David Wasserman, helping to save a professor's life!

We have a date for our next major luncheon. It will be held at the Swan Club, Tuesday, October 15th in the Afterdeck room. Further information will be published in our next Newsletter. The next mini-lunch date is Thursday, September 19th. at 12:30 P.M. which will be held at the Valbrook Diner in Valley Stream. The Valbrook is located at 160 East Merrick Road. You can take Merrick Road or Sunrise Highway to get there. Their phone number is 516-872-0465. If you are heading East on Merrick Rd, it will be on your right-hand side. If you pass Addison Place, the Two Guys auto shop, or the railroad trestle, you've gone too far! Heading West on Merrick Rd., when you see the railroad trestle, it will be coming up quickly on your left. There is metered parking in front and free parking in the lot behind the diner. If you are using Sunrise Highway heading East, make a left turn on Horton Ave and then another left on Merrick Rd. Heading West, turn right on Horton Ave., then left at the next traffic light, onto Merrick Rd. and continue, just past the trestle. All retirees and future retirees (and their spouses) are welcome to join us!
