Not quite "on topic", but we know how strongly
Al feels about rail transportation - Dave

May 20, 2007

To: Those in Eastern Bergen wanting GOOD & PRACTICAL Transportation
and Members of the Transit Committee of Bergen County and others.

This is our chance to convince NJ Transit that the best rail solution to
our congestion problem is a direct electric light rail extension to
Tenafly. We need a one seat connection to the ferries, Hoboken Terminal

Tell them that a Dinkey Diesel Shuttle to North Bergen is totally
inadequate to meet our needs.

The need for transportation alternatives continues to demand attention
and remain a priority on the agenda to improve the quality of life in a
burgeoning region. The proposal to bring passenger rail service to the
northern branch corridor is a topic of important discussion as our state
and local officials carefully prepare to plan for a new era in commuter
options. We would like to continue to explore that discussion.

You, the residents of your community, and transportation advocates are
invited to join us at a “Northern Branch Passenger Rail Fact Finding
Forum” to be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 8:00pm inside the Council
Chambers of the Tenafly Municipal Center at 100 Riveredge Road, Tenafly.
Officials with New Jersey Transit are also invited to participate.

We ask that you bring with you all of your questions, concerns and ideas
that relate to this issue. We are eager to receive your input and hope
to learn of your thoughts on the impact that passenger rail service may
bring to your municipality and the entire region.

There has been much debate on both the entire scope of this project and
the necessary details that will allow this concept to be brought from
plan to reality. The municipalities along the northern branch and the
people of the surrounding area deserve to be heard in an exhaustive and
comprehensive manner. We encourage you and others to help us further
that discussion on May 31st.
