New project...the announcers who introduced the CBS evening news.
I can go back to the Walter Cronkite era when Harry Kramer was the announcer, but who was the voice on the CBS News when Douglas Edwards was the anchor?
After Harry, we have Dave Campbell, Hal Simms, Wendell Craig as the regular announcers.
I havent located any kinescopes of the Edwards newscasts or we would at least have a sample of the voice.
Any thoughts or answers?

Here I go again? The remaining cell left in my brain has conjured another scheme.
It has occurred to me that there are a number of retirees that ‘DO NOT’ have a computer and therefore are not privy to seeing the wonderful and insightful page, [The CBS retirees.com] that has evolved over the period of time because a lot of CBS people have made an effort to originate and then others improved upon admirably. I am sure you have mostly enjoyed these efforts. It would be a nice if we could send them a [Hard Copy] of the page periodically, or semi-annually, for a minimal charge. Tony Casola can supply us with the cost factors because he has to mail this info twice-a-year for the luncheons.
I was hoping that this could be discussed at the up coming luncheon scheduled for, Wednesday May 17, 2006 at the Swan Club, Long Island, NY, in the Garden Room. It could be just a two page (letter size) and a comprehensive, concise compilation of what has appeared on the page.
I know there will be a need for someone to compile this info, I would do it but I have been having some problems of late and if necessary I will do it, but I would like to see some of the present CBS’ers step-up-to-the-plate and take a swing at this.
Please discuss this and let me know and of course it all has to be worked out with the dynamic duo of Teddy and Dave.
If you don’t agree it is your democratic right to do so, however if you vote this down, be careful when you start your car,…….Ha,ha.
Fraternally,
Tony Cucurullo
Ps: I will be given you my derby picks this year, soon.

I received a letter from Prudential Financial regarding a Death Insurance Policy which I have & did not know about. The Group Policyholder is : CBS Corporation & The Group policy Number: 40143. Tele: (800) - 778 - 3827. I spoke to Art Shine, he called, it seems he also has this policy & did not know about it. The mail was sent to an old address & not forwarded. I guess there may be others out there that are not aware of this policy.
