Back in the late 50s early 60s we had WARREN SWEENY announcing. He was a robust funny irishman. On one occasion he had to read copy for a special program which was pre-empting the normally scheduled show! Without batting an eyelash he read as follows,"The invisible man will not be seen tonight due to the following special program"!! On another occasion, the local ID Telop came up backwards. This did not deter him...he read it as it looked -- "YORK NEW TWO CHANNEL"!
I just saw the notice about George Maber. He was always one of my favorites in st 43. He and I, along with others, were switchers in the late 50s and early 60s. A true gentleman -- never a harsh word for anyone. Maybe Bob Wilson would like to know that he spent those years in 43.
