The following is an article from newly retired technician Joel Dulberg.
Joel, you may remember from the "Sixty Minutes Show."
He came to CBS, when the, MGM-Studios, closed. He came over to join the ranks of CBS, with the talented Dave Dorsett, and the Late Sound Effects technician Joe Galant, and of course moi.
If I am correct I think he spent his entie time with the "Sixty......" show.
He now resides in the state of Maine. And, as I look at the address list, he has a 'Ham' signature, KA2FHU.
Joel contacted me recently to check on the "Medical Plan" status. We discussed the prescription drugs, and the various plans. He is looking into the Canadian, drug offerings. And he has forwarded the following article to me, and to you too.
So, here is the article from Joel,........thank you and, welcome to ranks of the unemployed, disheartened, and ever hopeful CBS retirees.
Subj: Canadian drug prices
Date: 4/30/2002 8:43:17 AM Eastern Daylight Time
Good morning Tony:
Here is some of the info I found regarding the purchase of drugs in Canada.
First off, there is a place called the 55 Plus Center in Brunswick, Maine that talked of a Canadian place to get drugs. The address for 55 Plus is:
6 Noble Street, Brunswick, ME 04011.
Their Canadian web site is www.canadarx.net and their program is called Canada RX.
Go on to their web site and you can check out the prices for yourself. They are in Canadian dollars so you'll have to convert.
If you have a fax setup, let me know and I can send you the article put of by 55 Plus in their recent news letter.
Next, there is a book from Green Tree Press in Erie, Pa which shows how and where to get prescriptions directly from Canada. The prices are really good, for instance:
Celebrex, 100 mg x 30 tabs ... US - $61.84 ---- Canada $11.40
Zocor, 40mg x 60 tabs ... US $256.79 ...... Canada $104.92
Albuterol, 90mcg inhaler .... US ... $24.29 .... $13.91
Lipitor, 2mg x 60 tabs ... US $189.16 ... $95.79
The Consumer's Pharmacy Guide is available from Green Tree Press - Dept. 906, 3603 West 12th Street, Erie Pa. 16505. It is $ 12.95 plus $3.95 shipping or it can be charged to most charge cards.
I hope some of this helps and I will keep you posted as I find out more from CBS, if at all.
Keep it up on your end and hopefully something will happen.
