I am a television archivist and author of Window to the Future: The Golden Age of Marketing and Advertising Television [Sets]. Do any CBS employees know if the network had color videotape recording capabilities either in New York or Los Angeles in the late 1950s? If CBS had a color videotape recorder as early as NBC did in late 1958 its conceivable episodes of the Red Skelton Show and other live color variety hours may have been color recorded for rebroadcast in the various time zones in 1958 and 1959. What is the earliest known CBS color videotape? Were color kinescopes made of Ed Sullivan's 1951 and 1954 color broadcasts? You may email me directly at

Thank you.
