Just a note to add to the background of Eddie Albert. Mr. Albert was a Marine Lieutenant when the Marines tried to land on the island of Tarawa, in the Pacific, on Nov. 21 st 1943. Before a marine touch the shore at least 1500 were killed in one of the most deadly battles the Marine Corp ever participated in.
As a result of this slaughter the Navy learned to scout the beaches well before landing and hence the UDT (Under Water Demolition Teams) were developed, and were later to be named the SEALS, of today.
Mr. Albert and then Lt. Col. Shoppe were decorated for bravery. Col Shoppe received then Congressional Medal of Honor and later become the commandant of the Marine Corp.
